The Differences Between Copper Coils and Aluminum Coils

In terms of the electrical conductivity of coils, why is copper coil better than aluminum coil?

First, regarding electrical conductivity, the electrical conductivity of aluminum is lower than that of copper. To match the performance of copper coils, aluminum magnet wires may require a larger cross-sectional area to provide the same level of electrical conductivity. This means that windings made of aluminum wire require a larger volume compared to copper coils of the same size.

Second, in terms of chemical properties, aluminum oxidizes much faster than other metals. If aluminum powder is exposed to air, it will fully oxidize within just a few days, leaving fine white powder. Therefore, to ensure proper connections and good electrical conductivity, the oxide layer on aluminum magnet wires must be pierced to prevent further contact between aluminum and air.

Finally, from a cost-effectiveness perspective, aluminum coils with equivalent performance require more turns and thicker wires, resulting in higher costs and being less economical than copper coils. If there are no high requirements for coil efficiency and volume, and the coil only works occasionally for a short time, aluminum wires can be used.

In recent years, however, some manufacturers have used aluminum wires to pretend to be copper wires in order to reduce material costs, deceiving customers. Such behavior not only harms customers but also disrupts the fair competition order in the market. Since its establishment in 2003, Dongguan Golden Eagle has always adhered to the principle of "making customers assured and being responsible to users." For many years, it has insisted on using high-quality raw materials, only selecting Class A raw material suppliers to ensure product quality. All raw materials undergo 100% reliability testing upon entry into the factory to ensure that the coil quality meets customer requirements.
