A smart meter manufacturer was developing a compact wireless reading module for utility monitoring equipment. The module needed an RFID antenna coil that could be installed close to the plastic housing and electronic control board while maintaining stable communication with the external reader.

During early testing, the standard antenna coil showed inconsistent reading distance after installation in the final enclosure. The signal also changed when the coil position was moved slightly or when nearby metal components were introduced. The original coil had been selected according to nominal inductance, but its actual performance had not been evaluated together with the housing, PCB, reader module, and installation structure.

Golden Eagle reviewed the target frequency, inductance, Q value, coil diameter, wire specification, number of turns, antenna shape, PCB position, housing material, and distance from surrounding components. The engineering team adjusted the winding geometry and terminal structure to improve the consistency of the antenna coil inside the complete smart meter assembly.

For RFID and IoT applications, the antenna coil cannot be evaluated only by its nominal inductance. Q value, parasitic capacitance, coil resistance, winding accuracy, component position, and matching circuit all influence the final communication performance. Golden Eagle therefore recommended testing the coil with the customer's reader and control circuit instead of relying only on independent sample data.

The customized RFID antenna coil was produced using controlled winding processes. Prototype samples were checked for inductance, resistance, Q value, dimensions, terminal strength, winding consistency, and communication performance. The customer also evaluated reading distance, orientation tolerance, installation deviation, temperature variation, and the effect of nearby metal parts.

Golden Eagle has 15 years of R&D and manufacturing experience in inductors, coils, transformers, and wireless charging components. Suitable projects may receive prototype support within approximately 3–5 days. The actual sample schedule and production quality must be confirmed according to the final drawing, materials, inspection requirements, and project records.

The customized coil helped the customer establish a more stable antenna structure for the smart meter and provided a clearer basis for matching the antenna with the reader circuit. It also reduced the risk of redesign after the housing and PCB layout were finalized.

When sourcing a custom RFID antenna coil, buyers should provide the operating frequency, target inductance, Q value, coil dimensions, wire diameter, number of turns, terminal position, housing material, PCB drawing, reader module, communication distance, and expected annual quantity.

Golden Eagle supports custom RFID coils, air-core coils, wireless charging coils, and other magnetic components for smart meters, IoT devices, access-control systems, sensors, and industrial electronics.
