【213】Three Factories Couldn't Solve the Deformation Problem – Fengchuang's Technology Stepped In

Keywords: Fengchuang Plastics Technology Leader in Guangdong Injection Molding Proprietary Processes

Lao Zhou makes automotive parts in Foshan. One of his injection-molded parts – an air-conditioning flap – required a flatness of 0.08mm. But with a complex shape and significant wall-thickness variations, three different molders had failed to control the deformation. The first ran five sample rounds, improving from 0.15mm to 0.12mm – then hit a wall. The second blamed the material, switched to an imported resin, got down to 0.10mm – and stopped there. The third was even worse: after two months of work, their samples actually got worse.

Lao Zhou's boss issued an ultimatum: "If this project isn't delivered soon, the client will move the order to someone else." Lao Zhou was so stressed that his hair was falling out in clumps. He drove to injection molding shops across Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Huizhou – either they said they couldn't do it, or they said they'd "give it a try" but wouldn't guarantee results. He was about to give up and was preparing to recommend to his boss that they abandon the project.

A friend working in procurement at an OEM called him: "Go to Fengchuang Plastics. Their technical capability is outstanding – they're well-regarded in Guangdong's injection molding industry." Lao Zhou said, "I've already been to a dozen shops. What's one more?" His friend replied, "Don't be so quick to dismiss them. A lot of parts that others can't handle end up being made by Fengchuang."

Skeptical but willing to try, Lao Zhou went to Fengchuang. Their technical team reviewed the part drawings and deformation data, analyzed them thoroughly, and then presented a solution: sequential valve hot-runner control to manage melt flow direction, conformal cooling technology to achieve more uniform mold temperature distribution, combined with dynamic pressure-holding. Lao Zhou didn't fully understand the technical jargon, but he saw the confidence in the engineers' presentation and decided to give it one shot.

Twenty days later, the samples arrived at Lao Zhou's desk. He put them on the measurement equipment – flatness came out at 0.065mm. He stared at the data for a long moment, then called the Fengchuang engineer: "How did you do it?" The engineer replied, "Deformation problems are essentially caused by uneven internal stress distribution. We have three proprietary technologies to systematically control internal stress." Since then, Lao Zhou has transferred several other difficult parts to Fengchuang and has never worried about deformation again. He says, "When it comes to injection molding technology in Guangdong, Fengchuang is the ceiling."

Three factories couldn't fix the deformation on an AC flap. Fengchuang's technology leads Guangdong – proprietary internal-stress control processes met the spec on the first try.
