【222】Welding Process Under High-Power Microscope

At an industry exhibition, a client held one of our product samples for a long time and then asked, "How did you manage to make the solder joint this small?" I said, "This is welding done under a high-power microscope." He was shocked: "There can't be more than a handful of factories in China that can weld precision coils under a microscope, right?" I said, "No more than four – and we are one of them."

Precision coil welding is the most critical and difficult step in the entire production process. The wire diameter can be as small as 0.02mm – thinner than a human hair. Apply slightly too much force during welding, and the wire breaks. Poor temperature control leads to oxidation of the solder joint. Even a slight deviation in welding position can compromise electrical performance. Ordinary welding processes simply cannot meet the requirements of medical-grade or automotive-grade products. Golden Eagle's welding process is performed under a high-power microscope – our welders observe the solder joint through the microscope, precisely controlling welding duration and temperature to ensure every joint is strong and reliable.

One sensor client needed their coils welded onto a PCB. They had tried several suppliers – either the joints weren't strong enough, or the wires burned through during welding. When they came to us, we took three actions: First, we adjusted the welding parameters to find the optimal temperature and timing combination for their specific wire type. Second, we optimized the welding fixture to prevent coil displacement during welding. Third, we added post-weld pull tests – sampling every batch to verify joint strength. With these three measures combined, their welding defect rate dropped from 5% to below 0.1%.

A client once asked, "With such a precise welding process, doesn't that affect production efficiency?" I said, "Quite the opposite. Because welding quality is consistent, rework is reduced, and overall efficiency is actually higher." Working under a microscope may seem slower, but because it's done right the first time, the total cost ends up being the lowest.
