When an electric current energizes the coil, it generates a magnetic field that drives the valve core to change the valve's state (open or closed). Solenoid valves are widely used in industrial automation, household appliances, medical equipment, and other fields.

Structure of Solenoid Valves

A solenoid valve mainly consists of the following components:

  1. Solenoid Coil: Generates a magnetic field when energized, driving the valve core.

  2. Valve Body: Contains fluid passages, determining the on/off state or flow direction.

  3. Plunger/Core: Moves under the magnetic field to control fluid flow.

  4. Spring: Returns the valve core to its original position when power is off.

Working Principle of Solenoid Valves

The working principle of a solenoid valve is based on electromagnetic induction. When the coil is energized, it generates a magnetic field that moves the valve core, opening or closing the valve. When power is cut off, the spring force resets the valve core. Based on operation, solenoid valves can be classified into:

  • Direct-Acting: The electromagnetic force directly drives the valve core, suitable for low-flow applications.

  • Pilot-Operated: Uses fluid pressure for auxiliary control, suitable for high-flow and high-pressure systems.

Solenoid valves play a crucial role in various industries, such as:
