How to Maintain High-Frequency Transformers

High-frequency transformers are essential components in almost every electronic device. If a high-frequency transformer malfunctions ("diseased"), it can render the electronic device unusable, cause explosions, or even lead to complete scrapping. Therefore, to extend the service life of electronic devices, proper maintenance of high-frequency transformers is crucial. So how do we maintain them?

  1. Keep detailed maintenance test-run records.

  2. Re-close the high-voltage side grounding switch to discharge the transformer.

  3. Inspect whether the transformer’s grounding is intact and whether the ground wire is corroded. Replace severely corroded wires.

  4. Check if the busbar contact surfaces remain clean. Remove oxidation layers and apply power compound grease.

  5. Clean dust around the transformer and accessories. Inspect firefighting facilities and ventilation systems for proper function.

  6. Connect the low-voltage side circuit breaker control power fuse, and re-hang the "No Closing" sign to prevent back-feeding to the transformer.

  7. Energize the backup transformer. Disconnect the low-voltage side circuit breaker of the transformer under maintenance, remove its control power fuse, and hang a "No Closing" sign at the switch handle. Jinlai Technology High-Frequency Transformer

  8. Disconnect the high-voltage side circuit breaker of the transformer under maintenance. Close the grounding switch to fully discharge the transformer. Lock the high-voltage cabinet and hang a "No Closing" sign at the switch handle.

  9. Disconnect the high-voltage side grounding switch. Recheck the transformer site and low-voltage side control wiring. If correct, close the high-voltage side circuit breaker for a test run, then remove the high-voltage side sign.

  10. Tighten connections.
