Inductors on Computer Motherboards: Their Significant Roles

Inductors play an indispensable role on computer motherboards.

1. Stabilizing Current:  In the power supply circuits of CPUs, GPUs, and other chips, inductors can prevent sudden changes in current. When the load changes, they can release or store magnetic energy to stabilize the current output, ensuring the stable operation of the chips. For example, when the CPU is processing complex tasks, the inductor ensures a stable power supply current.

2. Filtering: Inductors, in combination with capacitors and other components, form filtering circuits that remove high-frequency noise and ripples from the current. This provides a cleaner power supply to various components, reducing interference and enhancing the stability and performance of the computer.

3. Energy Storage: When there are fluctuations in the power supply voltage or sudden high-load demands, the energy stored in the inductor can be released to provide temporary power to the components, maintaining their normal operation. This is particularly useful during quick computer startups or when running large software applications.

4. Voltage Conversion: Inductors participate in the DC-DC (direct current to direct current) conversion circuits on the motherboard. Through the characteristics of inductors, voltage can be increased or decreased to supply power to components with different voltage requirements on the motherboard.
