Classification of wireless charging technology
Wireless charging technology can be divided into three types based on principles and operating methods: electromagnetic induction, radio waves, and electromagnetic resonance.
Electromagnetic induction is the use of electromagnetic induction between a pair of coils to achieve charging technology. There is a coil at both the transmitting and receiving ends. The transmitting end is the wireless charger end, and the coil is integrated into the primary coil, also known as the transmitting coil; There is also a coil on the mobile phone, which is integrated into a secondary coil, also known as a receiver coil. After the current passes through the transmitting coil, a magnetic field is generated. The receiving coil receives the magnetic field and generates electromagnetic induction, resulting in electromotive force. With voltage, an induced current is generated, which can charge the mobile phone. This technology requires a distance of less than 1cm between the two, and users need to place the device to be charged on the surface of the wireless charger.
Radio waves are less commonly used due to their large space and high energy consumption, and their basic principles are similar to those of early mine radios. The miniature high-efficiency receiver can receive radio waves transmitted in space. Due to significant space loss, this technology is generally only used on low-power electronic devices, and the distance between the receiving device and the transmitting device cannot exceed a few meters.
The transmission distance of electromagnetic resonance is relatively large, and the diameter of the coil used in the experiment is as high as several tens of centimeters. This method cannot be commercialized yet because the coils used in commercial products are only a few centimeters long. However, if the size is too small, the power received at the receiving end will decrease. However, with the continuous updating of technology, it is believed that wireless chargers based on electromagnetic resonance principles can be widely used in future electronic products.
